Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 26, 2026

A quick note before we get into the details

Privacy matters to me, both as a therapist and as someone running a professional practice. This page explains what information this website collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

A few important things up front:

This policy covers my website only. If you become a client, your clinical care is provided through the Center for Mindful Psychotherapy, and the information you share in session or through the client portal is protected health information (PHI). That information is governed by the Center for Mindful Psychotherapy's privacy practices and Notice of Privacy Practices, which you'll receive at intake, along with HIPAA and California's Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA). CMP Privacy Policy. This website policy covers the earlier step: visiting my site, filling out a contact form, or subscribing to my newsletter.

Who "I" am here. When this policy says "I," "me," or "my site," I mean Jill Murray and the website at Jillmurraytherapy.com. Clinical services are provided through the Center for Mindful Psychotherapy, San Francisco, CA.

What I collect

Information you give me directly

Contact form. If you reach out through the contact form on my site, I collect your name, email address, phone number (if you choose to share it), and anything you write in the message field. I use this to respond to your inquiry and, if we move forward, to arrange a consultation.

Newsletter signup. If you subscribe to my email list, I collect your name and email address. I use this to send occasional newsletters, updates, and resources I think you might find useful. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.

Scheduling. If you book a consultation or appointment through the scheduling tool on my site (SimplePractice), you'll be asked for information like your name, contact details, and appointment preferences. That information flows into the practice management system used for your care. Its privacy practices govern that data once it's in the system.

Information collected automatically

When you visit my site, some information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies:

  • Your IP address and general location (usually city or region)

  • Your browser type and device information

  • The pages you visit and how long you spend on them

  • How you arrived at my site (for example, a Google search or social media link)

This is standard for most websites and helps me understand how people find and use my site.

The third-party services I use

I use a handful of trusted services to run my website. Each has its own privacy policy, and when you interact with my site, some information may be shared with them.

I do not sell your personal information to anyone, and I don't authorize any third party to collect your information for their own marketing use.

How I use your information

  • Respond to inquiries you send through my contact form

  • Arrange consultations and appointments

  • Send you newsletters and updates you've subscribed to

  • Understand how people find and use my website so I can improve it

  • Run ads (if applicable) and measure whether they're working

  • Comply with legal, tax, and professional obligations

I don't use your website information to make clinical decisions.

Cookies and tracking

My website uses cookies, small files stored on your device, to make the site work and to help me understand how it's used. Some cookies are essential; others are analytics or advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you're visiting from California or another jurisdiction with specific protections, you may see a cookie banner giving you choices about what you accept.

Your privacy rights

If you're in California

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information I've collected, access a copy, delete it (with some exceptions), correct inaccurate information, opt out of sale or sharing (I don't sell personal information, but you have this right regardless), and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any of these, email me at jill.murray@mindfulcenter.org, I'll respond within 45 days.

If you're in the EU or UK

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you have similar rights — access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and data portability. Email me to make a request.

Unsubscribing from emails

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email I send.

Children's privacy

This website is intended for adults. I don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the site. If you believe a child has provided information through my site, please email me and I'll delete it.

I may update this policy as my practice or the law changes. When I do, I'll update the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
